The Evening Sample Menu
Aperitif
Roger Goulart, Brut Rosado, Cava

expressing raspberries with plenty of fruit on the palate. A refreshing light finish.
Entre
Penne Rigata and Black Summer Truffle
Pasta with wild wood mushroom sauce, toasted pine nuts and parmesan reggiano. With white truffle oil and shaved black summer truffle.
Indré Castello di Montegrosso
A rare treasure from the past, the true Barolo ancient grape variety. Rich garnet red, sensational bouquet of dark red berries, taste of
smokey fruit, truffle and liquorice. Full bodied with immense expansion on the palate.
Plate Principal
Rioja Tempranillo (new oak), Biurko Gorri
This semi-crianza is highly praised by Robert Parker. Deep cherry colour, intense aroma of black fruit, forest leaves, full bodied with sophisticated round tannins, soft with a long and persistent finish - oak finish of vanilla roasted nut.
Salad
Fragrant Spanish Monkfish
Rosemary skewered monkfish, cooked with saffron, cinnamon, garlic, honey and orange. Served cold and fragrant with leaf salad.
Rioja, Tobia, Blanco de Lagrima
Light silver colour, powerful nose, greengage and tropical fruit aromas, well integrated, fresh and ample floral citrus finish.
Cheese
Roquefort and Baked Pear
Roquefort, warm pear and date infused with vanilla, served with honey nuts.
Pinot Gris, Princes Abbés, Domaine Schlumberger
Slightly muted nose is quite fresh with some smoky varietal character. Rich full-textured palate is quite pure with some minerality.
The richness is balanced by crispiness.
Dessert
Trio of Petite Fours
Selection of luxury sweet bites with real gold leaf finish.
Leblanc Colombier Cuvee, Celeste Brut
Light silver colour, predominantly Chardonnay with a slight biscuity bouquet, and a clean, off dry palate of vanilla and lemon zest with appealing length.

'Cafe Five Star Success'
Burton Mail

'Listed one of the Top Ten Best Coffee Shops in the UK'
"This cafe has established a strong local following due in part to its young, welcoming staff - and it's not every place that has narrow boats bobbing close by. As well as a good range of coffees and other drinks, the Apple Tree sources healthy foods locally and fairly, and has a deli attached as well. The courgette cake with lime icing is a winner."
